Beautiful Shandong :Lucid waters, lush mountains vitalize Jining’s countryside

In 2021, all administrative villages in Weishandao town, Jining, generated more than 100,000 yuan ($14,980) in collective incomes, thanks to the town's scientific utilization of its natural advantages.

The town, which is located on Weishan Lake, has in recent years adhered to the philosophy of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and endeavored to balance environmental protection and economic growth.

The town has built more than 133.4 hectares of manmade wetlands, 86.71 hectares of a round-the-island wetland belt, and standardized animal husbandry and poultry breeding to guarantee the good water quality.

To reforest desolate mountains, the town invited the general public to participate in rural construction and built a rural complex that includes homestay hotels, terraced cherry flower fields, and rose plantations, attracting many tourists from urban areas.

The town also gives full play to the local fishing culture in developing rural tourism and modern agriculture.

Tourists are able to experience a local fishermen's life and diet, which have been observed for hundreds of years on Weishan Island. A workshop specializing in handmade fishing boat models is also open to tourists.
