Thirty international students are eagerly learning how to make mooncakes, guided by their Chinese teachers. They're picking up the techniques quickly!
Reporter: Is this your first time making mooncake? How do you feel?
Mehwish (from Pakistan)：This is my first time in China. I have tasted the mooncake before, it is very delicious. But I am making this for the first time.
Teachers are not only teaching the students how to make mooncakes, but they're also explaining the cultural significance of this traditional festival. As one of the four major traditional festivals in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival holds profound cultural significance and is a symbol of family reunion. With China's increasing internationalization, more and more international students are coming to China for their studies, and they're gaining a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
Vice Dean of International Education School Dezhou University, Hu Yanfeng: On this occasion, we organize the international students in our university to hold such activity, that is to make mooncake by themself to experience Chinese culture. The Mid-Autumn Festival is the symbol of reunion. So, by this way we want to give them feelings of home, because they are far away from parents, their country. At the same time, hope they can integrate into the Chinese society, DeZhou University society as soon as possible and better.
Besides learning about mooncake making, the international students are also reciting the famous poem "Prelude to Water Melody·How long will the full moon appear?" Through the teacher's explanation, they're learning more about the story of the moon and its cultural significance.
Reporter: How do you like the life here？
Ryu (from Indonesia): It is comfortable, this is like to buy stuff and then to eat everything is already in the university, so it is much simple and easy for me to go everywhere.
Mehwish (from Pakistan)：The life and my experience here in China and this university is so cheerful. I'm really satisfied to be a student in this university. It's so easy as an international student. Festival is really fascinating for me.
