Kites are helping to drive the economic development in Weifang, East China's Shandong province.
As a kind of creative cultural product, kites have diversified categories, creating jobs for about 80,000 employees in over 600 kite-related enterprises in Weifang.
With annual sales exceeding 2 billion yuan ($281.5 million), kites in Weifang are exported to more than 50 countries and regions.
Weifang kite-making skills were included in the first batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage representative projects list in 2006.
